The title of this painting accurately represents its content, as it prominently features multiple members of the ancient Fremont Indian tribe. This group, known as the ancestral Puebloans, were skilled hunters and gatherers who inhabited the region until approximately 700 years ago. Following their departure, the area was later populated by nomadic Shoshonean Utes and Paiutes. The presence of the ancient Puebloans in this image serves to guide the viewer's attention towards the impressive Corona Arch, while also showcasing the arch's immense size with several individuals standing underneath it.
