Our Story

About

Ever wonder why Western movies are so popular?   It's most likely because we picture Western history as a romantic, simplistic era featuring buffalo, Indians, honest hardworking settlers and cowboys trailing their herds to the railhead. I'm proud to claim my ancestors within that mix.  I like to feel there is a connection to that heritage.

The experience of working with cattle and horses, and the rhythmic patterns of moving them through the changing seasons, had a profound impact on my life’s perspective. It was a life rich with stories, colors, and textures that would seep into the canvas of any artist who had lived it.  It is my hope, that sharing my work allows you to experience this world through your eyes, to feel the grit of the desert and the whisper of the prairie wind. Each copy created, is an invitation to continue the narrative, to explore the rugged beauty and the enduring spirit of the west in a personal and unique way.

As a youngster I was introduced to painting by a local artist but, didn’t pursue it until much later.  From the halls of Southern Utah University, followed by a stint in the Army including a tour in Viet Nam, working and raising a family took precedence over art. My second career as an artist began while living and working on the White Mountain Apache Indian reservation. Those experiences gave me a deep connection with diverse cultures and histories.  Hopefully, my interest in the history and culture of Native Americans adds layers of meaning and reverence to my paintings, offering viewers a window into the past and present of this land.

I now reside with my wife in beautiful Moab, Utah, where I paint full time. The stunning landscapes near Moab provide a rich tapestry of colors and forms that can ignite the imagination of any artist.  Perhaps you can find a piece for your wall which will allow you to join my adventure into the simple yet profound life of the frontier and to finish the story as only you can.

Send me a note. Perhaps you have an idea for a future image of an unfinished story.
